If you were to take a song, and tune it to 432hz, what would that actually mean?
Well most music is tuned to 440hz, that means that the A note in the 4th octave is exactly 440hz. This was a decision made a long time ago so that entire symphonies would all be in tune with each other. This makes sense! But now, with the rising popularity of tuning music to 432hz, how would you achieve this?
Well, simply shift the entire song down by 8hz. Simple! You could do this within any digital audio workstation like Ableton, FL Studio, even something simpler like Audacity, however things start to get complicated when you want to shift entire songs to one of the nine Solfeggio Frequencies.
The reason for this is because there are some Solfeggio Frequencies that are way higher or lower than 440hz. These include frequencies like 174hz, which to our ears is a really low frequency, a bass. So, instead, what we can do is tune 440hz to 438.48hz, THEN the F note in the third octave is 174hz!
What this means is that we can tune songs to a comfortable frequency (something not far off from 440hz) and still have the desired Solfeggio Frequency included! Let’s go through what those re-tunings would look like:
Going Through Each Solfeggio Frequency
First off, let’s quickly go through the nine main Solfeggio Frequencies: 174hz, 285hz, 396hz, 417hz, 528hz, 639hz, 741hz, 852hz, and 963hz.
As we just went through above: tune 440hz to 438.48hz and the F3 note will become 174hz!
If we tune 440hz to 452.37hz, then the C#4 note becomes 285hz.
440hz tuned to 444.4hz will make G4 396hz.
Tuning 440hz to 441.8hz will make the G#4 417hz.
440hz to 444hz will make C5 become 528hz!
Taking 440hz to 452hz will make D#5 638hz.
440hz to 416hz will make F#5 741hz.
If we tune 440hz to 416hz it will make G#5 852hz.
And if we tune 440hz to 429hz, then B5 becomes 963hz!
Now this all might seem a bit complicated, so here is a little graphic to get you up to speed.
